Accessibility Statement

Last updated: 2026-05-24

The Knowalot team wants our website to work well for everyone, including children and grown-ups who use assistive technology like screen readers, magnifiers or voice control.

What we are aiming for

We aim to meet the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1 at level AA, the international standard used by most public websites in the UK.

How accessible the site is

We believe most of Knowalot is accessible. In particular:

  • You can use the whole site, including our quizzes, with just a keyboard.
  • You can change the text size in your browser without breaking the layout.
  • Colours have been chosen to keep good contrast against their backgrounds.
  • Headings, lists and links are marked up properly so screen readers can read them.
  • Images that carry meaning have text descriptions; decorative images are hidden from screen readers.
  • The main quiz questions and answers can be read without JavaScript.

Things that may still be a problem

We know about a few areas that may be harder to use, and we are working on them:

  • Some older printable pages and picture quizzes may not be fully labelled yet.
  • A few interactive quizzes can be tricky with a screen reader.

Tell us about a problem

If you find something on Knowalot that is hard to use, please let us know through our contact form and we will do our best to fix it.
